Tube Amp Dr in Germany does the primary QC. The TAD EL34 STR is a great fit for that British amp or if your just looking for a nice change from the same old EL34.

They sounded great for a couple of days. Then I noticed the tube in the V7 slot had red plated, even though the bias was properly set to my amp’s specs. I wasn’t even pushing the amp hard at all. Pulled the TAD EL34’s out and dropped in the set of JJ EL34’s that had been in there before. Bias set no problem. Been listening to them all day at high volume and no problems whatsoever. Also had a set of NessTone EL34’s in there before as well and they worked perfectly, no problem. So I must’ve gotten a bad tube. Sent email requesting a replacement but no response yet. They’re usually very good here about replacing faulty tubes. Bummer!

Just received my replacement tube. Installed and biased no problem. Sounds awesome! These TAD EL34 STRs have to be the best sounding EL34’s I’ve heard yet. Second best of course are the NessTone EL34’s, which I own several quads. Really appreciate the outstanding customer support from Mr. Ness. Thanks again!
